Stranger Than Fiction (2006)
I read a review of this movie that described it as “Adaptation” lite. Pretty apt. Clever and inventive, but it gets caught up in romantic and syrupy cop=outs.
Basically Harold Crick (Will Ferrel) is an IRS auditor who meets and falls in love with Harvard-dropout-anarcho-baker-grrrl (Maggie Ghylenthal sp?-whatever) and they fall in love. However, while this is happening he has a voice narrating everthing he does in his head. Its an author who is writing his lifestory and going to kill him. He tries to find out who the author is with the help of Lit-prof Dustin Hoffman (a great performace here- actually reminding me of Benjamin from the Graduate).
Sounds great right.? Well I’m not saying anything, but it fucking wusses out really hard at the end.
Fuck that.
I was all set to cry and they ruined it for me.
