Halloween (2007)
Rob Zombies Halloween.
Not as bad as I was expecting, but not good. Here Zombie focuses on the first chapter of the story: Micheal Myers becoming a monster. His childhood killings and his stay in the sanitarium. This was all left out of John Carpenters version because it is boring. We want to see Myers fucking shit up on Halloween with the Shatner mask on.
More problems, Zombie is updating the 80’s slasher form with all the fucked up gender politics completely intact. Fornicating teenage couple are found, the boy is quickly delt with and the girl is killed slowly and without a shirt on. Aren’t we done with this shit? I suppose not. It was a bummer.
Pluses? I love the cast Brad Dourif, Udo Keir, Malcolm MacDowell, Danny Trejo, some of my very favorite character actors were represented and accounted for. So, I was entertained throughout but Zombie needs to ditch the rape scenes, real talk.
Also his dealing with the climax where Micheal faces off with his little sister Lorry works pretty well and is a cool twist on the original.
But, not really recommended.
