Coffin Joe (for those of you who may not have heard of him and I think his Mom calls him Jose Mojica Marins) is a kind of Brazilian BoogyMan. He wrote, produced, directed and starred in all of his own films. Coffin Joe (the character) is a cloaked-top hatted fucking evil undertaker who stalks his small very Catholic town in search of  the perfect woman to bear him a son. He engages in all manner of wild blasphemies, enraged over the top soliloquies, rape, and total antisocial behaviors of all sorts in the process.

Shot in grainy black and white, with edits and wipes so janky that you can see the scotch tape and worry that the film will break in your dvd player. This film is very effectively creepy. You believe that Coffin Joe is that evil. Frankly this is a harsh toke, I wouldn’t recommend it to all. He is despicable, but portrayed as very cool. The misogyny is real off putting.
